Smoked Sausage Sandwiches With Beer-braised Onions

My husband asked me after work..."So what's for dinner?" I barley get the word sausage out and he is rolling his eyes! Hahahaha! He's like "Eh, sausage!" I say "Listen these sandwiches sounds amazing and I'm not making them the way I normally do!" I normally just sauté up some peppers and onions and throw them in a roll with a piece of sausage. This recipe sounded SOOO much better and tastier! IT WAS!! My husband took 2 bites and said "WOW, those are awesome! You are defiantly making these again right?"

First you wanna cut up your onion and throw that in your pan with some melted butter and a little salt and pepper......cook them on low for about 10 minutes....

Add your favorite can of beer to the onions and cook until onions are lightly caramelized, about 25 minutes....

Here are the rest of your ingredients/condiments:
Rolls {of course}, Mayo, pickles, spicy brown mustard and Munster Cheese!

Put your onions aside and then cook up your sausage's in the same pan.....

Once they are done, I added the onions back to the pan to heat them up a little

Build your sandwich! Little mayo on one side of the roll, spicy brown on the other side, layer of cheese{you can also transfer the sausages to a plate and lay the cheese over top to melt first}, pickle sausage and top with those onions!!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups thinly sliced onion
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 to a whole can of favorite beer
  •  Smoked sausage
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 6-8 slices Muenster cheese
  • Steak Rolls
  • Mayo
  • Spicy Brown mustard
  • Dill pickle slices

Directions

  • Melt the 1 tablespoons butter in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Mound the onion in the skillet and add the salt and pepper. Reduce the heat to medium low and cook, stirring as needed, for 10 minutes, or until the onion is softened and lightly caramelized around the edges. Add the beer and cook for 25 minutes longer, or until most of the liquid has evaporated and the onion is very soft and flavorful. Remove the skillet from the heat and allow the onion to cool slightly.
  • Oil a grill pan with the vegetable oil and heat it over high heat. Add the sausages and grill until the casings are blistered and crisp and the sausages are heated through. Transfer the sausages to a plate and immediately lay the cheese slices on top, so that the cheese softens.
  •  Spread mayonnaise on one side and mustard on the other. Add the sausages and cheese, mound with the onion, and garnish with pickles. Serve immediately.
